TLV320AIC3268: TDM Addition of i2s lanes

Part Number: TLV320AIC3268

In our project we are planning to use 8 pcs of TLV320AIC3268, with each working upon a stereo audio signal (in1L & in1R  ->ADC ->DSP ->DAC -> LOL&LOR)

each of the devices can output I2S lane. Is it possible each device to receive an I2S or TDM lane on one of the Audio Signal Serial Bus and to output a TDM on another Audio Signal Data Bus while including the channels of its own ADCs? The idea is to have at the last device a TDM output with all the channels included and minimal delay. We can accept to include either one (preferably two) audio channels per device until at the end we have 8CH (preferably16CH) entering in a microprocessor for further processing.

  • Hi, Tihomir,

This application seems possible, but I have not seen it implemented before with the AIC3268. You should be able to use the miniDSP of the AIC3268, along with PurePath Studio software to accomplish this function, but please note that using the Digital input of one AIC3268 to receive the ADC data form another device will block the option to receive playback data for the DAC.

  • What do you mean, that I will not be able to use the digital inputs to DAC, or that the DAC will be blocked totally? Will I be able to use the DAC with a stream from the ADC of the same device?
  • Hi, Tihomir,

I meant that in order to do the ADC output "chain", you need to use the DIN ports of the codec, which means that you may not be able to play data from a digital source through the DAC. But, as you mention, You would be able to stream the audio from the ADC through the DAC of the same device.
