Hi,

my customer is using DAC+ amplifier to drive a speaker.

The end equipment need the speaker to produce the sound "beee..." at the instant the equipment is powered up.

Since I2S signal won't be generated unless the Linux platform is running at MCU. So they use a dedicated pin of MCU to generate PWM signal to amplifier to produce the "beee...", they can't wait for the I2S signal to be generated since it has several seconds delay.

Do we have one device that can replace (DAC+amplifier) and meet the requirement I described above?

TLV320AIC3100 seem to meet the requirement but it's overspec. We only need one DAC and one amplifier for one speaker.

Hi Howard,
AIC3100 is one of the most cost-effective codec w integrated beep generator for the tone you want to generate for your EE. We do not have any device in the portfolio which has mono-DAC/amp to specifically meet the spec you are looking for.

If internal beep generator is not a requirement, LM49350 can be considered as well. Thanks.

Is TAS2025 suitable for this application?

Since TAS2025 has both digital input and analog input. I guess I can use analog input to generate the beep at the beginning.

The question is when TAS2025 is powered up at reset state without any configuration, can it accept analog input to generate the beep?

Howard,

You could either use the AIC3100 or the AIC3120.

for the beep, if its possible to do some device configuration before the beep, you could use the bypass path shown below in red.

Additionally, if you would like to avoid using the processor for the Beep altogether, the AIC3100 and AIC3120 have a built in beep generator that you could use as well.

Hi Howard,

TAS2505 does not route any signal to the speaker on default state, you would need to initialize the device before tone playback.
In addition, if you decide to use TAS2505 I would suggest to add a low-pass filter for the PWM signal.
