TAS5805M: TAS5805M Shutdown issue

Part Number: TAS5805M

Hi sir

we use the TAS5805M design as PBTL module by output poiwer 40W, PVDD=22V,however, we find the output power only reach 30W,if more than 30W it will happen shutdown, in the datasheet the output power is 45W under the condition of PVDD=21V 4ohms THD=1%, pls help check it and give same suggestions how solve it,tks!

  • Hi Darren,

    May you check if the shutdown is temperature? If yes, then your product thermal design should be improved. If other fault, please give more detailed information. My Colleague Alix will follow up with you.

  • Hi Darren,

    Do you have any update of this issue?
    When the device shut down when output power reaches 30W, please read back global fault to see the cause of the shut down by:
    w 58 00 00
    w 58 7f 00
    r 58 70 04 // read 0x71 ~0x73 to see fault informaiton
    r 58 68 01 // read device's status.

    Most importantly, as you konwn, if it is OT shut down. You need to check you thermal design by referring to our EVM (thermal data in the datasheet comes from EVM ) : www.ti.com/.../slou510.pdf ;

    1. Layers of PCB (EVM is 4 layers)
    2. Thickness of copper; (EVM is 2 OZ)
    3. layout and placement;

    Also, you can change 1SPW mode to see whether it improves.

    Regards,
    Alix Wan.
