LM48511: LM48511 short circuit protection feature details enquiry

Part Number: LM48511
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2011D1, TPA2013D1

Hi,

I've encountered similar case as follows upon short circuit testing of LM48511 whereby rebooting power of the audio amp & it's back to normal operation again.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio/f/6/t/730621?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=lm48511

May i know under short circuit protection triggered device is switched off or rather latched?

Regards,

Leo

  • Hi Leo,

Unfortunately internal details of old LM devices is unreachable. Although it is most likely that device is latched when protection is triggered.

  • Hi Ivan,
thanks for the verification & will communicate to customer on the potential behavioral change upon protection triggered. Also given the age of the device, are there similar spec audio amp from TPA family which may match LM48511? Design operating voltage range 3.1 to 4.2V. Speaker plan to use is 8 ohm speaker. Max 2W.
  • Hi Leo,

If boost is not a must, you could take a look at TPA2011D1.
If boost is a must then TPA2013D1 could be considered, this device has EVM available for testing if needed.
