LM386: LM386

Part Number: LM386
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA6205A1

Hello:

Need help for audio amplifier using LM386 chip.

According to LM386 datasheet,The audio input only has 2 pins, Vin pass Volume protentiometer to LM386 pin3 , GND to pin2. But the TRS audio plug has 3 pins: red wire is the right audio channel and blue wire is the left audio channel, the bare wire is GND. How should I connect the audio plug to LM386?

Thanks.

  • Hi Chang,

    Welcome to e2e.
If you have an active signal on both channels, you would need a second LM386, one for each channel, or you could also use one LM386 in summing configuration.
Summing topology is used like any other OpAmp, something like Figures 30 or 31 on TPA6205A1 data sheet: www.ti.com/.../tpa6205a1.pdf
