We're looking at updating a multi-channel audio mixer. I know I posted something similar last year, but this has different project requirements.
We have 16 independent bidirectional audio channels that we want to get into an SoIC with as few data and control lines as possible.
The current mixer uses 8 LM4550B codecs to deliver 16 independent bidirectional audio channels, using the feature that enables us to chain three codecs per output data line to reduce pin count.
I'm looking at using either 8 stereo codecs with TDM or three of the PCM3168A, also with TDM.
Going down the TDM path, how many codecs can I connect to together on one bus? For the PCM3168A I assume each one has to be on separate data lines, but I should be able to gang together the clock lines?
