TAS5825M: Question of Re-Startup the TAS5825 After Shutdown on OCP or OTP

Part Number: TAS5825M

Hi Sirs,

As title, once the TAS5925 shuts down on OCP (Over Current Protection) or OTP (Over Temperature Protection), do we need to write complete CFG to bring it up again, or we can only write 0x03=0x03 to bring the TAS5825 up to play mode again?

Thank you and Best regards,

  • Hi Wayne,

You can do that but if you want to be more simple, then you need to reset the device by:
    w 98 00 00
    w 98 7f 00
    w 98 01 11 //reset

Or you can pull low PDN too. My colleague Andy or Matt will support you further.

    Regards,
    Alix Wan.
  • Thank you Alix. Customers' EC can write speaker coefficients during system boot up, however, OCP event can occur at any time. Can customer just write 0x03=0x03 to restart the TAS5825 without reset and write complete CFG after OCP FAULTZ be asserted?...Wayne Chen

  • Hi Sirs,

I checked that we can restart the TAS5825 Smart Amp without reloading complete CFG once OCP occured.

    Here are the processes:

We can program the GPIO2 to FAULT# output, I checked the behavior on the EVM, once OCP occurred, the TAS5825 can assert FAULT# to low to EC, and assert OC bit on 0x70, while the 0x03 register remains art 0x03 (play mode) at this moment.

EC can toggle the 0x03 register to 0x00 (shutdown amp) and write 0x03=0x03 (play mode) to bring up the TAS5825 without write complete CFG again:

    -------------------------

    w 98 00 00

    w 98 7f 00

    w 98 03 00

    w 98 03 03

    -------------------------

We can get the same FR plots before and after OCP event:

    Thank you and Best regards,
