TAS5825M: PPC3 hangs on "Writing Coefficients" in some Process Flows

Part Number: TAS5825M

Hi,

I'm using a TAS5825M on a custom board. I am programming/initialising the amp through my system mcu. Therefore I do the config in the PPC3 software and export it to a c-header file to hardcode it in my mcu firmware.

I figured out problems using some process flows (e.g. 48kHz Base/Pro). Some others have also had the same issue. For example this issue was marked as resolved: https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio/f/6/t/748782?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=ppc3%20hangs%20coefficient

There is a solution displayed which belongs to MCR path verification. How can that be done?

Another thread mentions that there are problems with Win10. The answer from TI was to use Win7 instead. But I mean that's not really what I call a solution.

I tried to reinstall the TAS5825M app, but that didn't solve the issue. The PPC3 version is v3.1.3 and the TAS5825M software is v3.1.9. That should both be the newest version.

Kind regards,

Markus.

  • Hi Markus,

Well understand the situation. In order to figure the issue out, can you capture scope of the issue in your application.
Further, it will be better to offer your OS information to us. My colleague will look into this issue.

    Alix Wan.
  • Hi Alix,

I'm working under Win 10 64 bit with the newest updates. I attached a screenshot from the PPC3 software. I choose the process flow 2.0 48k Base/Pro. Then after opening the config surface the software is stuck during the step "writing coefficients".

  • Hi Markus,

You did not connect your PPC3 GUI to EVM board to load the configurations. But on my side, it does not cause that issue.
I am thinking that it is certain software issue. Now that reinstall the software cannot solve this issue, can you please also try another laptop?
I will also report this issue to our software team for suggestions.

    Regards,
    Alix Wan.
  • Hi Alix,

I don't have a EVM board of the TAS5825M, but that's not the problem. I just want to generate a basic config file in the PPC3 software and do the rest on my MCU. That's working perfect for some process flows.

I tried it on a Win 7 pc. Everything is fine there. So it must be a special issue of Windows 10, which your software team should fix in the next release. That's exactly what was mentioned in another support thread before. But using win7 instead of win10 is not really a solution which makes me happy. Our computers for developing tasks mostly use win10, so there should be a solution for win10.

    Kind regards,

    Markus.

  • hello Markus,

Alix had submitted to software team and ask for improve robust of win10.

    Regards
    Linda
  • Hi Markus,
