Hello team,

a customer of mine is doing a redesign and is planning to use an audio codec on USB. From our website I can't really chose one since the selection is pretty wide and that's why I'm asking your suggestion. Technical specs are:

Temp. Range -40/+85°C
no output, only stereo input; don't have a specific spec on SNR/THD, although keep in mind that on the older design they use the TLV320A and they don't want to go far from its "quality"
lifetime longer than 5 years

Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions. If any question please let me know.

Hello Adrian,

TLV320AIC3104 (http://www.ti.com/product/TLV320AIC3104) would be a good generic recommendation for your application. Do you know if your customer needs an integrated DSP functionality ? If you can help point us to the part your customer has previously used, it would really help us narrow-down the choices.

Hello guys,

thank you for the replies! Really appreciate the support!

Up to now they've been using the TLV320AIC3204 to acquire the stereo audio input but now they need the possibility of acquiring via USB, hence the request. The intention is to achieve an A/D conversion quality that is not inferior to the current solution.

I was looking at the following devices: http://www.ti.com/audio-ic/converters/usb/products.html

Hi Adrian,

Take a look at the PCM2903C and PCM2906C. Both are Stereo USB CODECs with similar SNR/THD to the TLV320AIC3204.
