TAS2555: SmartAmp and Tuning

I'm currently working with a pretty small speaker (pn: MD1115N-RC758) and trying to improve audio quality and volume, right now at higher volumes it starts buzzing and the quality gets pretty bad. We're trying to work in SmartAmp mode but we also need the internal boost mode to be off, however it seems that once boost mode is off the SmartAmp doesn't work and the quality gets pretty bad again, has anyone had any experience with this?

Additionally I'm trying to tune the speaker and having a challenging time understanding all of the parameters, anyone have any helpful resources on that?

So I have been through all of the attached documentation pretty thoroughly, it doesn't talk much about smartAmp or boost on/off modes at all.

Not sure what happened, I posted this earlier but now it is gone.

Can the TAS2555 actually run in SmartAmp mode with the internal boost turned off? I'm not sure if the boost circuitry is part of the feedback loop for the DSP being that the boost converter is dynamically controlled during run time, turning on when needed for extra volume.

Is see the I-V sense feature is required for ROM Mode 2, but the smartamp mode doesn't specify which feedback features it needs. Do we have a list of those required features?

^^I was trying to run this but even though internal boost was switched to off in the PPC software, when I actually ran it, boost was running anyways. Is there a way to force it to off other than the console?

Yes, it can. Actually, the boost converter is independent from the SmartAmp mode and the IV Sense. It basically increases the input voltage when it is required. And it can be turned off when the analog input is high enough to avoid its usage.

Do we have a list of those required features?

The only feature required in smartamp mode is the IV sense. This feature is required in order to provide the thermal and excursion protections based on the current and voltage feedback. In addition, this feedback will help to determine the coil temperature and update the initial model due to the variations in speaker (and ambient).

Hi, Gwyn,

I would recommend to turn off the boost converter at the beginning and end of your registers code. It can be turned off with the Book 0 / Page 0 / Register 5 / Bit D5.

Could you try with it, please?
