TAS5805M: TAS5805M EMI with PVCC = 18V

Hi Team,

My customer is evaluating TAS5805M in a new project, they want to use Ferrite Bead and capacitor as the output filter to save cost, but the output power is BTL 15W for each channel, speaker load is 6 Ohm, the PVCC = 18V. But the datasheet mentioned only PVDD < 14 will provide enough margin.

So how is EMI will be impacted when PVCC = 18V?

And if EMI problem is not considered for the time being, will transient overcurrent protection problem occur with low-impedance speakers?

Hi Holly,

As to inductor-less solution, it is suggested to be used in BTL mode, PVDD<=12V and output power <=2*10W.

Hence, for your application, it is not recommended.

Hi Kara,

Over current of TAS5805M is ~5A, hence, you need to make sure that largest current through output stage should be less than that. As to 18V and 6ohm, it seems to be good.
