Any setting to decrease the gain before DSP or DSP initial?

Part Number: TAS2557

Hi Team,

We adjust the slider gain control in PPC3 to 6dB, EQ disable, and SPK_GAIN_EDGE register set to 15dB.

Input 0dB 1kHz, but only get 1V output.

Is there negative dB gain before DSP? maybe in ASI or DSP initial?

Please help to confirm if there are any unknown gain setting.

Thanks

  • Hi Daniel,

Can you share your full device configuration (cfg file)? What sample rate are you using?
Is there a difference if you try on ROM mode and SmartAmp mode?

The reduced output could be related to several factors, one is that you're sending a sine tone and the speaker protection is reducing the gain as sine tones can heat up the speaker quickly. Are you using the EVM and the EVM speaker?

  • Hi Ivan,

Attached whole tuning file as below.

We use 48kHz sample rate, and the SPK is our product SPK, not EVM SPK.

We use SmartAmp mode since our customer require to disable EQ/DRC/...setting, just reserve SPK protection for CODEC Dolby tuning.

Any other off-DSP Gain setting can do besides SPK_GAIN_EDGE?

    Thanks

  • Hi Daniel,

I have a couple comments about the output measurements:

    • Can you comment about my second question from my first post? Are you using a sine tone? Have you tried with a broadband signal, like white noise and see any difference?
From my testing, I can see that sine tone output is ~1Vrms and white noise output is ~2.1Vrms (on Device A)
    • I do my tests using Snapshot 1, is this OK?

  • Hi Daniel,

Do you have further comments about my questions from last post?
