TAS2505EVM: TAS2505

Part Number: TAS2505EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2505, , TAS2505-Q1

Hi guys,

i got the TAS2505 EVM board now. but there is not audio output from the speaker.

i can't find the slac366.exe in TI.com. just used the slac772.exe instead of it.

used the internal LDO for AVDD and DVDD in the EVM board. AVDD and DVDD seems can't connected together by jumper selection. can you confirm this.

i used the I2S mode through USB port, the +5V power supply is from USB port and play music in the PC too.

I measured the WCLK=48K/BCLLK=3.07M approximately. but no signal found in DIN. also no auido signal from the SKP/SKM too.

jumper setting:

1. removed W11/W12 jumper and connected DVDD and AVDD by the wire.

2. W1 set to LDO_SEL side.

3.W4 set to GND.

4. W7 set to GND

other jumpers keep as default.

I used the default script to configure the EVM board.

is there any setting i need to do? the evm board user guide for the jumper setting is mentioned.

thanks

  • Hi!

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

This could be related to the registers settings that you are using. It seems that the I2C address that you are writing is incorrect. The correct one is 30 instead of 80. Could you try with one of the example setups mentioned in the TAS2505 user's guide:

    http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau472/slau472.pdf#page=49

These scripts are designed to be used with the TAS2505EVM.

The slac772.exe should work with this EVM. Anyway, I attached the slac366.exe in case you would like to do some tests.

    8233.slac366a.zip

Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

  • Hi Luis,

whether used the 8233.slac366a or slac772, the EVM still doesn't work. I have copy the configuration script from what you mentioned in the user guide.

for slac366a, which option to select from the list.

for the slac772 codec control software, i only can select "TAS2521EVM", is it ok for the tas2505EVM board?

    the then it shows below.

I used the script copied from the user guide which used the I2C address to 30 and clicked "run" button. unfortunately, it still have no audio output. i found that when i pressed the "RUN" button,

no any signals transmit on I2C bus. Do i make a wrong process in this step?

but if i chose "view"-->"example configuration"-->"playback class-d speaker"  and pressed button "ProgramCodec", i can find the commands sent on I2C bus, it demonstrate that the I2C bus connection is good and works.

Remember i used the internal LDO instead of external LDO. and connect AVDD and DVDD together.

could you use the EVM board and same Codec controll tool to check it?  Thanks

  • Hi,

Just to have a better approach to this issue, could you place all the jumpers in default state (especially the power supplies jumpers) and try again with the example scripts?

In addition, could you tell me if the Class-D output is enabled? Do you see any activity with the scope? Could you go to the analog settings menu in the slac772 Codec Control Software and enable the Class-D Speaker output? Do you see any change on the Class-D output with the scope?

    Best regards,

  • Hi,

Excuse me, do you have a feedback on this? Could you take a look at my questions above?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Luis,

After i changed to another USB port in same pc, the EVM board works.

do you know whether i can set the EQ through the control software by input "frequecny" and "gain" in the control block or not.

if not,can yo send me the example script to set the EQ.

currently, only audio path and gain setting found in the control block.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I'm glad to read that your EVM board is working now.

In order to configure the EQ filter, you would need to configure the biquad filters of the processing block that you are using:

    http://www.tij.co.jp/jp/lit/ug/slau472/slau472.pdf#page=10

The biquad filters are composed of five coefficients that must be configured by three registers each:

    http://www.tij.co.jp/jp/lit/ug/slau472/slau472.pdf#page=12

In order to get the correct coefficients, you may use our Coefficient Calculator:

    http://www.ti.com/tool/COEFFICIENT-CALC

This tool can be used to configure the biquad filters and get the result in 24-bits format (the format required by the biquad filters of the TAS2505-Q1). Once you get the results in our tool, these values must be written in the registers associated to each coefficient.

Please try with our coefficient calculator tool and let me know if you have difficulties using it. You may share the EQ settings that you require and I will provide you an example of the registers that must be configured.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
