TAS5825M: Leveler, Volume Normalizer

does TAS5825M have a leveler or volume normalizer function integrated? When switching to another source there should be no step in the output volume!

    TAS5825M does offer volume control on both channels.  Could you elaborate on the leveler or volume normalizer function integrated?

    I don't think there exists a digital block in TAS5825M that can function like the leveler or volume normalizer you mentioned.

    we have the following application case:

    Tuner, analog/digital source and manual generated sound go on the PCM9211. This passes the desired I2S signal to the TAS5825M. The user should not perceive different volume levels when switching the source, but the volume level should be kept constant.

    I noticed the volume control. But I would have to measure the input level to adjust the volume.
    Are there any solutions/examples?

  • Hi Simon,

    I don't have a perfect solution.  If you know the gain differences among these sources,  one thing you can do is to compensate the gain variation using the input mixer.

    but do you know of any solution to measure the gain of an audio source "easily"?

    In my opinion,  the most convenient way is to use some professional tool, like the Audio Precision audio analyzer we use every day in our lab.  

    If you don't have that kind of tool, I think you may have to play with the volume or input mixer in the PPC3 to find out the gain differences among these sources.
