Hi - I'm using the DAC_OUT as a line-out as well, in addition of the TAS575x amplifier capabilities.
That works well, but when the jack used for the line-out is connected, there is (most of the time) a short to GND happening for a small while when inserting it. The TAS575x does not like it at all and there seems to be a short as well from the high voltage supply to GND (or at least as many Amps as the power supply can drive). Is this due to SPK_OUT being overdriven or something else?
As a workaround, I've added 1K resistors in serie, assuming line-in is >10k. This seems better, but when the short happens, it stills produces a major plop and pretty high power consumption. Is this a wrong use of DAC_OUT or is there a better solution?
Thanks
[edit]: obviously, I'm doing something wrong. When connecting dac_out (after the coupling capacitor) to a line-in, I've just realized that the TAS consumes an extra 100~150mA on my 18V supply compared to when dac_out is *not* connected. Same speaker volume.
Well ... should have paid more attention DAC_OUT is single ended so line-out shall be taken just at the output, not after the coupling capacitor ... problem solved
