PCM1862EVM: PCM1862EVM:

Part Number: PCM1862EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PUREPATHCONSOLE, PCM1862

Neither of the 3 versions of the PurePath software for the PCM1862EVM match the board's TAS1020B USB Controller :

ppc3_platform_winInstaller.exe  ,  PurePath_Console2_2.1_r35934.zip  ,  setup_PurePathConsole_Main_v1.16_rev35470.exe

Don't we need the right version for our  TAS1020B USB Controller ?

  • Isaac,

The PCM1862EVM uses Purepath Console 2.

It can also be used with pure path console 3 if you don't mind using the generic I2C Master program,  but I would advise using PPC2

  • After installing PurePathCosole1.6 for the PCM5102EVM and PurePathConsole2.1 for the PCM1862EVM ,

and connecting both via their USB to the Win7 host computer , while inputting to VIN2 of PCM1862EVM (ADC)

audio data from an online sound generator  (  https://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/  ) - I could not see data

flowing through both EVMs (see attached Sound window , where icon "HeadPhone" shows data from the sound

generator , icon "RCA Connectors" is related to the  PCM1862EVM (ADC) and icon "Speaker" at the bottom is

related to PCM5102EVM (DAC) . See also attached consoles from PurePathCosole1.6 and PurePathConsole2.1  .

    Thanks ,

    Isaac Achler

  • Issac,

Again, the PCM1862 only uses PCC2.  From what I can see your first 12 registers look to be reading correctly.  that looks like the default settings.

What does your EVM tab look like?

Did you read the user guide?

    best regards,

    -Steve Wilson

  • I still don`t see the USB data flowing in the PCM1862EVM with the PPC2 software .

    See attached images :

  • Issac,

it looks to me like you have Two TI EVMS plugged in at the same time, and you aren't selecting the proper one.

Here is what I see when I plug in the PCM186xEVM to my PC.

I only see the USB-AudioEVM, not the USB-miniEVM.  So for recording,  I recommend selecting the USB-AudioEVM input. from your picture it appears that there is some small signal on that input.

as for playback,  thats up to you,  but selecting the PCM186x wont be very useful to you as it is an ADC only.

    best regards,

    -Steve Wilson

  • I apply the audio input to the 1868EVM ADC from the https://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/  (Online Tone Generator)

via the Phone Output of my PC (Dell Precision T1700) . The 5102EVM DAC output is connected an EarPhones . I cannot

hear the tone in the EarPhones , but USB activities are shown from the ADC but NOT the DAC . See the note on the bottom

of the PPC attached image , and images of the PC Sound Windows :
