TAS2557: What is the difference between Tuning Mode, ROM Mode 1 and ROM Mode 2 in the End System Integration

Part Number: TAS2557

I want to dump the files necessary so we can configure the TAS2557 in our system.  We want to use the Smart AMP for protection and the Smart EQ to improve the audio quality.  After I tune the EVM with my speaker attached, I take a snapshot and go to End System Integration.

- Select Dump Binary File

- Under the configuration -> Application, there are 3 options: Tuning Mode; ROM Mode 1 and ROM Mode 2.

Which of these 3 options should I select?  Some of the comments I've read on the forum lead me to believe the ROM Modes don't have the ability to run the smart amp & smart EQ.

Thanks.

  • Hi, David,

My colleague will take a look at this. He will answer as soon as possible.

  • Hi David,

    You should select Tuning Mode.

Tuning Mode enables all internal processing features, like speaker protection, EQ and DRC.
ROM Mode 2 disables all internal processing, it works as a digital input Class-D amplifier with IV-sense feedback enabled.
ROM Mode 1 disables all internal processing, it works as a digital input Class-D amplifier with IV-sense feedback disabled.
