Dear Sirs,

My customer asked us about Adjacent Pin to Pin Short Without Damage with PBTL of Integrated Self-Protection for TAS5805M.

Then I checked datasheet and found that Adjacent Pin to Pin Short Without Damage of Integrated Self-Protection.

Also I found that section 9.5.3.3.1 Overcurrent Shutdown (OCSD).

Therefore, this section only describes the power supply or GND short circuit, not the pin to pin description.

So please let me know how the protection circuit in the device operates when a short circuit occurs between the output P / N when using with PBTL.

hello, Hasebe,

when device set in PBTL mode, chip will control internal output stage driver and get shorted together OUTP and OUTN switching in same phase to increase the power sourcing capabilities of the device.

The question was not enough.
My question is whether the IC will be damaged if the output pins (both ends of the speaker) are shorted when connected to PBTL.
If there is a protection function, please let me know more about the internal protection operation.

hello, Hasebe-san,

if I understand your question clearly, you mention there is speaker two terminal short together (PBTL mode), is there any damage

I think answer is no. As this device designed Over current (OC) protection when short happened including both BTL and PBTL.

I understood that the description in 9.5.3.3.1 Overcurrent Shutdown (OCSD) on page 44 of the data sheet applies when a pin to pin short during BTL or PBTL.
Is this correct?

yes, Yasebe,

TAS5805 can support terminal to terminal short protection. also neighbor pin short protection.
