Hey guys!

I need to make an MP3 (or AAC) encoder so it can be connected to Raspberry Pi over SPI interface. Ideally, I will also need an ADC.

The idea is to convert an audio into MP3/AAC and hand it over to Raspberry Pi (SPI), so it would create an .mp3 file.

Are there such an IC's and/or reference desings?

I need to point out that it must be a minimum possible power consuming solution.

Hi,

You can check the TMS320C5517 devices.

A better solution might be TMS320C6748 and OMAP-L138 devices.

Hi!

I'm not sure I need all that power... I was hoping for a more specialized devices as I'm trying to make some add-in to Raspberry Pi with very specific functions - ADC, MP3/AAC encoding and SPI output (or any other high-speed bus available in Raspberry Pi).

For example, I found ADC122S051 and TLV320AIC3204 but I'm still looking for best options. Also, I have no idea at the moment how should it work together.

Hi Alex,

Sorry, I didn't understand that you're asking for just the audio codec.
In this case you can check the codecs used in TI EVMs:
OMAPL138 LCDK: TMDXLCDK138

AM335x EVM or BeagleBone Black

AM57x EVM

and so on.
