TAS6424-Q1: BTL mode and PBTL Mode

Expert 4466 points
Part Number: TAS6424-Q1

The overcurrent shutdown is 9A if we select OC level 2. Does this apply to both BTL mode and PBTL mode?

How is the time to shut down amplifier calculated?

How is the 150W output measured or calculated for PBTL mode? Is this a rms power rating or peak power rating?

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks,

Jack

  • Hello Customer,

OC level can be configured through the registers 0x01, which is for both BTL and PBTL. As to how to calculate output power, for OC consideration, it should be peak voltage. Vpeak*Vpeak/(2*Rload)=150W, which needs Vpeak/Rload<OC threshold.

  • Jack,

The OC current threshold is current of each pin. So it is 9A for BTL, but 18A for PBTL.

The time of OC shutdown is very short, ns level. The description in datasheet of "time to shutdown" includes the current increasing time. when current increase to the threshold, device will shutdown immediately.  Below is a general device OC protection waveform, just for your reference.
