TPA6120A2: Output capacity question of TPA6120

Part Number: TPA6120A2

Dear TI engineer,

Thanks for your patience to read my question.

As is shown in DS, It's clear that when output resistance is larger than: 39ohm+16ohm=55ohm, even when output voltage is +-12V. TPA6120 has amazing distortion performance. But because of reverse voltage of voice coil, We need minimise resistance of circuit to better control movement of Diaphragm.

Obviously when driving high impendence earphone(300ohm,600ohm), 39ohm resistance can be removed, but when I want it to drive 16ohm, 32ohm high sensitivity earphone, we do not need a high output voltage, but we need high current control capacity.

I wonder when overall output resistance is much smaller than 39+16ohm, for example remove 39ohm resistance but output voltage is still lower than 2v (then the output current 2v/16ohm<12v/80ohm), will the distortion level increase significantly?

In simple conclusion, I want to figure out performance of TPA6120A2 when overall output resistance is smaller than 55ohm.

best regards,

Louie
