In the data sheet for the PCM2902E it states that crystal spec's. for the clock is a 12Mhz / plus and minus 500ppm freq. tolerance clock.
1.) I wanted to know if I can use a tighter freq. tolerance like 50-100ppm ?
also in the data sheet it states to use a 1M ohm resistor across the crystal and two capacitors.
2.) Do the capacitor values needed for the crystal have to match the crystals load capacitance - other words if the crystal has a load capacitance of 20pF then two capacitors of 20pF must be used?
3.) Selecting a crystal does the value of the ESR of the crystal matter , I found two crystals that are 30 and 60 ESR max .
4.) Is the 1M ohm resistor value across the crystal stay the same value regardless of crystal spec's.
I changed the email settigs on your website for me to receive emails regarding my answers to the questions of the PCM2902.
Yes, you can use a tighter tolerance crystal.
Please use capacitors that are recommended by the crystal manufacturer - the PCM2902 datasheet shows a generic circuit for a generic crystal but for an actual crystal you'll have to make sure the capacitors are compatible with the crystal.
ESR between 30 and 60 ohms is ok.
The 1M ohm resistor is universal and doesn't depend on the crystal.
