Dear community,

I need to replace the PCM1704-J on an Audio board, I would like to know where I can find a new one ?

In an other way if it is not possible, is there an equivalence concerning the quality and the

electronic pinout.

Hi Christian,

The PCM1704-J was discontinued (marked "obsolete") by TI a few years ago, as such we do not have any more to sell. We have a distributor, Rochester Electronics, that we sell our old stock to when a device leaves its "last time buy" stage, and they continue to sell that stock under their own warrantee.

To my knowledge, this is the only authorized distributor selling any variant of the PCM1704. Otherwise, you could consider other retailers, but sometimes that is a gamble.

Rocelec sell the PCM1704 U, and I wonder if concerning the audio quality it's the same compare to the PCM1704-J ?

The PCM1704 was a graded device, meaning that during testing BB/TI would categorize the devices by performance. The PCM1704U was the lowest grade, then the J, then the K. See the attached datasheet.
