Hi,

I am using TLV320AIC3109-Q1, audio codec in my application. Kindly give me insight on following queries;

1. Can I use any microphones (analog MEMS or ECM)?

2. How to chose output impedance?

3. The supported sensitivity level of mic?

4. Any other parameters to be taken care?

5. Any difference if I am using MIC1/ MIC2?

Please find the answers to your questions below:

1. Can I use any microphones (analog MEMS or ECM)?

Yes, the AIC3109 will support MEMS or ECM mics.

2. How to chose output impedance?

Ideally you want a low output impedance mic. This allows for good signal integrity over long cables. You would also like the load impedance to be at least ~5 times greater than the mic output impedance.

3. The supported sensitivity level of mic?

The AIC3109 supports mics with different sensitivity levels.

4. Any other parameters to be taken care?

I would just watch out for the max input Vpp of the codec which is ~1.8Vpp.

5. Any difference if I am using MIC1/ MIC2?

No there is no difference. Both inputs can be routed to the ADC or the PGA AUX paths.

Hello Abhijth,

The input to the ADC is ~1.8Vpp. When setting PGA gain, make sure not to clip the signal.
