TAS5825P: heating improvement vs TAS5825M

Part Number: TAS5825P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5825M,

Hello.

I have a question about TAS5825P.

How better is this device in terms of heating comparing to TAS5825M?

I can see no differences in "Efficiency vs Output power" plots in datasheets on these devices.

  • Hi Slava,

Most audio performance is the same between TAS5825P and TAS5825M, such as fixed power rail efficiency.

The most attractive feature of TAS5825P is Hybrid-Pro, which provide in advanced envelop tracking control signal to external boost to implement ClassH without audio clipping. So it can reduce idle loss with lower power rail and higher system efficiency (audio amp together with boost) at lower output power domian.

As for heat improvement, system efficiency is higher with low output power, so the heat condition becomes better. It's the same situation when playing music, which has more dynamic range compared with sinewave. However, when playing larger output power with sinewave, ClassH will pull up boost power rail to the max, so the heat condition should be the same as TAS5825M.

    Regards,

    Matthew
