Hi, I have a question about Class D amp TINA simulation modeling.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV3201, TLV7031

Hi, I am trying to simulate class D amp with TINA.

I designed circuit like above.

However, I got the graph below.

I think that the comparator can not follow the frequency and push-pull mosfet cannot amplify the voltage properly.

my setting is:

Vsaw = 4V amplitude, 3kHz

Vsignal = 3V amplitude, 500Hz,

PMOSFET :

NMOSFET :

I think it is very basic problem, but it is pretty hard for me to find out what's the problem.

Could you let me know what parameter I should modify?

Thanks,

Yun

  • Hello Yun,

    TLV3201 can't handle the fast switching of the inputs, so I recommend you try TLV7031. This part responds quicker to the inputs, but there is a slight delay in output. Please simulate to see the behavior. Also, be mindful of your input voltage exceeding your supply rails. TLV7031 has a supply voltage range of 1.6 - 6.5V and an input voltage range from Vee- .1 and Vcc + .1
    The comparator will swing from ~Vee to ~Vcc. So knowing that, you need to check the Vth of the MOSFET, which is quite high at ~3.3V. You may consider changing the MOSFET for one with a lower Vth so you can reduce your source votlage at the PMOS and drain voltage at the NMOS.

  • Hi Sally,

    Thank you for reply.

    I understood what i missed.

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,
