ADC6140EVM-PDK: Unable to configure 4 channels 96 kHz and 192 kHz acquisition with the evaluation board

Part Number: ADC6140EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PUREPATHCONSOLE, TLV320ADC6140

Hello everyone,

Using PurePathConsole 3 and the eval board, I fail to configure the TLV320ADC6140 to perform 32-bit TDM acquisition on 4 channels at 96 kHz and 192 kHz.
Is there a 48 kHz limit on the evaluation board?
Can you share a setup file that works ?

Best regards !

  • Hi Christophe,

How are you trying to configure the eval board? Are you trying to do this over USB or with an External ASI such as from an Audio Precision? Note that if you are using USB you have to adjust the sample rate in the sound properties of the TI USB driver and the XMOS chip on the EVM only supports certain ratios. At sample rates over 48kHz, the BCLK/FSYNC ratio is fixed at 64 and this only allows for up to 2 channels of 32-bit data. At 48kHz, the BCLK/FSYNC ratio is 256 and this allows you to transmit all 8 channels over USB. Hope this helps!

    Best,

    Zak

  • Thanks !

I succeed configuring 96 kHz/4channels with my own test board.

Do you think possible to configure "exotic" sampling rates, for example 80 kHz ? How can achieve this ?

    Best regards

    Christophe

  • Hi Christophe,

We don't spec anything outside of multiples/sub-multiples of 48kHz or 44.1kHz, but you can certainly run at other sampling rates as long as you provide valid clock ratios. The EVM can't do this over USB and the GUI does not recognize non-traditional sampling rates correctly, but it will still work.

    Best,

    Zak
