DRV632: VDD Supply

Part Number: DRV632

Hi Team,

For best audio quality, would you recommend to use an LDO to power the DRV632? If so, what would be the PSRR required?

Have you done a comparison on the output performance between using an LDO and a switching power supply?

Thanks!

Roy

  • Hi, Roy,

The most important thing when powering an audio device is to reduce the ripple level on the power supply. Both the LDO and the switching power supply can be used to power on the device. A 100mA, 3.3V power supply should be enough to handle this device as suggested in section 10.2.1 of datasheet ( https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv632.pdf#page=13 ).

Regarding your question about the PSRR, the DRV632 already has a PSRR = 80dB. We don't have data on what the ideal power supply PSRR level should be, but I think a 40dB level should be enough, so an LDO could be used for the design. However, if it is possible to reduce the supply ripple with the help of decoupling capacitors or additional components, we recommend to do it.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
