TLV320AIC3104: solution selection

Part Number: TLV320AIC3104

Hi Sir,

Customer is looking for a solution which could support below requirement, could you help to advise if TLV320AIC3104 is a good solution for it?

  1. 2 differential and 2 single-ended ADC-I2S
  2. MIC pre-amp up to 40dB and rout to ADC and lineout
  3. Digital mic PDM interface with master and slave compatible as below diagra
  4. I2S-DAC with built-in PLL
  5. I2C and SPI control
  6. Operating temperature: -40C~+85C

Also, if it is ok, could you help on below question?

  1. Is MCLK necessary? Or we can drive AIC3104 with I2S bit clock?
  2. Can it support digital mic? (scenario 3)
  3. Can it transfer analog input to PDM output? (scenario 1)

Thanks,

Patrick

  • Patrick,

    1. the AIC3104 has this,  but there are only 2 ADCs.  if you need 2 differential input ADCs, and 2 single ended input ADCs,  you would need 2xAIC3104

    2. the PGA has up to 59dB gain,  and it can route to the line out and DOUT

    3. the AIC3104 does not have any digital microphone functionality.  the AIC3106 does,  however you can use digital mics OR the ADCs,  it is not possible to use both at the same time.

    4.The AIC3104 has a stereo DAC,  and a PLL.

    5. The AIC3104 has I2C,  not SPI.  the AIC3106 can use I2C OR SPI

    6. Opperating temp is ok

    as for your other qestions:

    1. No Mclk is not necessary.  If using BCLK,  it must be greater than 512khz and you must assign it as the input to the PLL and the input to the CLKDIV (reg 102 = 0xa2)

    2. No. but the AIC3106 can.

    3. I am not understanding you here,  the output from our ADC would not be a raw PDM output, it would be PCM in the I2S format.
