TLV320DAC3100-Q1: Fault detection and recovery

Part Number: TLV320DAC3100-Q1

Hi team,

I am investigating TLV320DAC3100-Q1's fault(error) detection and recovery functions.

So far I could only find following items listed in status register.

Does this device have other safety mechanism such as Under voltage protection, over voltage protection, over current protection

or other error/failure detection mechanism?

If yes, could you share me each value and how can I recover from that state?

Thermal Protection

short-circuit Protection for headphone driver

short-circuit Protection for speaker driver

regards,

  • Hi, Thuji-san,

This device support overtemperature protection. 90°C is the lowest temp that the OT protection may kick in. Regarding the hysteresis, it is designed for 20°C. So, the OTP would stop around 70°C.

There's also short-circuit protection for the headphone and speaker drivers, which is always enabled to provide protection.

The headphone short-circuit protection can be monitored with page 1 / register 31.

The speaker short-circuit protection can be monitored with page 1 / register 32.

In order to recover from the short-circuit protection, the headphone and Class-D drivers must be powered down and powered up again.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
