TLV320AIC1110: Mettalic sound over SAI output.

Part Number: TLV320AIC1110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3111,

Hi

I am using TLV320AIC3111 CODEC IC for audio filtering,Block diagram is as follows

As mentioned in block diagram I am using SAI peripheral connectivity for audio data transmission, Master clock, frame clock and bit clock is generated by controller.

details as follows

MCLK- 2.048 MHz

BCLK- 8 KHz

WCLK- 512 KHz

As mentioned in above dia I am sending data over USB, this sound data has an metallic sound.

I am looking for solution to remove this extraa metallic sound.

  • Suvarna,

Can you provide some kind of audio file?  "metallic sound" is subjective and doesn't help to diagnose the issue.

    best regards,

    -Steve Wilson

  • Hi Steve Wilson,

I have attached sound file (.wav) file.

  • Suvarna,

Can you put it in a zip folder and attach it?  For some reason the forums won't let me play or download the file.

    -Steve wilson

  • Hi Steve

Kindly find attachment of sound fle in (.zip) format.surrounding_voice_USB.zip

  • Hi Suvarna,

Just curious, but is this metallic sound present only on the USB end, or do you hear it in the speaker/headphone depicted in your block diagram as well?

  • Hi Tom,

On speaker and headphone I am not using SAI output.

only on USB site I am using  SAI output of CODEC and getting this metallic sound.

  • Hi Suvarna,

Thanks for the quick reply!  What SAI mode are you using?  Can you provide a more detailed schematic or screen shots of the communication between the TLV320AIC1110 (or is it TLV320AIC1111?) and your controller?

  • Hi Tom

    more details on SAI

    I2S standard mode

    16bit data PCM

    8khz data rate

    stereo mode

    clock frequencies mentioned earlier.

    controller architecture

    Cortex M4 32bit

    16mhz crystal

usb only for audio transmission using audio class

    SAI clocks generated by controller

For SAI communication using dedicated SAI peripheral of Controller.

  • Hi Suvarna,

We really need a bit more detail here as the .wav file alone does not help in the debug process.  Can you provide register details and timing captures from an oscilloscope or logic analyzer?
