TAS2557: Speaker RE

Part Number: TAS2557

Hi team,

The parameter of TAS2557 is built for 7.5ohm speaker. The impedance of speaker is 7.5ohm +/-15%(6.375 ~ 8.625ohm)
If we change the other speaker and the impedance of speaker is 6ohm.
Is there any risk for protection algorithm of speaker ?

Thank you!

  • Hi Zoe,

It is most recommended to run speaker characterization on your new speaker to keep the best speaker protection algorithm performance.

Changing speaker impedance without updating the characterization would not allow the algorithm to properly follow the speaker specs and thus performance would be reduced.

  • Dear Ivan :

There are two speaker from different vendor.
The impedance of speaker is the same.
But the T/S parameter and frequency response is different.
Can we use one parameter of TAS2557 for two speaker ?

    Thanks

  • Hi Rence,

Speaker characterization takes into account several specs of the speaker, not only the impedance.
As mentioned, it is most recommended to run speaker characterization for each different speaker.
