TLV320ADC6140: Audio Signal Input Range

Part Number: TLV320ADC6140

Hi Team,

My customer is considering to use the TLV320ADC6140 as audio ADC with 384kHz sampling rate.
 - Audio Signal Input Channel Configuration is Analog differential input.
 - P0_R59_D[1:0] : ADC_FSCALE[1:0] = "00" (default) for DIFFERENTIAL FULLSCALE INPUT SUPPORTED = 2Vrms.

Electrical Characteristics of TLV320ADC6140 datasheet shows,
 - Differential input full-scale AC signal voltage: AC-coupled input: Typ= 2 VRMS

Which one is the typical differential AC-coupled input rage?
 a)  (INxP - INxN) = -1.41V to +1.41V
 b)  (INxP - INxN) = -2.82V to +2.82V
 c)  (INxP - INxN) = 0V to +2.82V

Best Regards,

Koshi Ninomiya

  • Hello,

For reference, please review the following app note which describes which features and channel combinations are available for the different sampling rates:  http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sbaa381

The full-scale input voltage is 2Vrms which equals roughly 5.657Vpp, or +/-2.828V.  Therefore the correct answer is B.  Note that there is a non-zero gain error which may cause inputs slightly less than, or greater than 2Vrms to be the actual full-scale input voltage.
