TLV320AIC3104: Loopback in chip

Part Number: TLV320AIC3104

Hello,

We are using MIC1LP/LINE1LP , MIC1LM/LINE1LM (Single Ended Signal) as Input and LEFT_LOP & LEFT_LOM (Differential pair as output),

a MCU is attached at I2C for control path, at I2S for data path. I want to test audio path gain.

So I try to provide loopback by closing switch SW-L1, SW-L4 via register 108 (Bit D0,D1). but could not get succeed.

Please let me know what else Register need to be written for to meet the purpose.

Thanks

Himanshu

  • Hello Himanshu,

Can you please share a register configuration as well as a schematic? For your case, you should be writing 0x03 to register 108. That should be all you need. Note that using these bypass paths routes the input directly to the output and bypasses the PGA, ADC, DAC, and output drivers.

If you are already trying to program register 108, have you confirmed that I2C communication is correct?  Are you able to read back the registers and confirm the contents?

    Regards,

    Aaron

  • Hi Aaron,

    Thanks for reply.

    I write Reg 108 ---> 03 , But it could not help.

I am attaching Register dump for your reference.

Let me know, What other Register should I write.

Yes, I2C interface is working, I have checked with read back.

    More Related Questions :-

    1. How we open switch SW-L0, SW-L3, Is there any separate command or It open itself by closing SW-L1, SW-L4

    2. The Title in datasheet  is "10.4.1.3 Passive Analog Bypass During Power Down"  Is the powerdown mandatory for loopback.

or it is just for power saving.

    Thanks

    Himanshu

  • Hello Himanshu,

I do not see a register dump attached. Can you try again?

I was able to achieve the passive bypass by issuing the following commands on an EVM.

    Reg., Value

    0x00, 0x00 #Page Select

    0x01, 0x80 #Software Reset

    0x6C, 0x03 #Bypass Path Enabled

I believe it states power down as this mode is primarily used when the ADC/DAC are powered down. Once see how you are configuring the device, i will run the same configuration on an EVM and check.
