WEBENCH® Tools/TAS5805MEVM: PPC3

Part Number: TAS5805MEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5805M

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Dear sirs,

i'm using TAS5805M EVB with PPC3 software. I've a strange phenomenon, i can execute PPC3 software that initializes the board, but when i choose the .Wav file to sing throught the board the Audio Player daoesn'advance. No way to play or stop. Maybe randomly i was able to play .WAv file, but i'm not sure.

If i try to play music from pc and set as output device the TI USB UAC2.0 it works sharing on/off the output with PC device, since i imagine the driver works but the board in PPC3 continously disconnect and reconnect and control aren't working.

What can i do to solve thi issue ????

  • Hello Roberto,

I recommend you do not use the Audio Player at the top of the PPC3 app.

When I use the PPC3 GUI in tuning, I stop and start the audio from the source or will mute and unmute my computer as a whole.

If the application is lagging, can you attach a screen capture?

    All the best,
    Carolina

  • Good morning Carolina, thank you for quick answer.

in the night i solved partially my problem, I assume of not use the player inside PPC3 but the win10 player. I understood the cuntinous disconnection of board from workbench: i attached my scope to the output of amplifier because i wanted to see the signal level, but when the signal was higher the board was resetting. This because i thought that the scope was decoupled from general ground, instead trought the scope gnd and amplifier output there was an overcurrent that causating a board reset.

Now i've a stable system but have some questions:

My system is composed of 9V battery in alternative of an external fixed 12V power supply. the output is stereo on 4ohm speakers 10uH inductors.

Setup in Hybrid modulation, 384KHz Equalizer bypass,  DRC bypass, clipper off.

     1) Channel B can be inserted or not. If channel B not inserted the signal outputs mixed in Channel A, can be better mix the signals in input mixer or in output crossbar ???

    2) since the power supply in base at battery charge is variable, is reasonable continously check the battery voltage and periodically recalculate the AGL for have ever the maximum efficency of amplifier or this is atuomatically handled by Hybrid mode ???

    Thanks in advance for answer.

  • Hello Roberto,

A1: You may insert Channel B at the output crossbar in the Advanced settings:

Q2: The output signal of the amplifier is automatically reliant on PVDD. So as the battery's voltage decreases so will the output signal.

Additional information can be found in the process flows document: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa263a/sloa263a.pdf?&ts=1590012638312

In terms of efficiency, you currently have the most efficient settings: 1SPW or Hybrid with 384 kHz
Also please keep in mind that the battery's voltage should not go below 4.5V

    All the best,
    Carolina
