PCM2705C: VID and PID customization

Hi Team,

We are designing a product in which we are going to use the PCM2705 as an audio bridge. Our requirement is that we want our Product name String on the Sound Control Panel of Windows instead of the regular "USB Audio Speaker" string. So is it Possible that TI provides a unique PID under your Company's VID if we purchase the Product for 500-1000 quantity?

    Hi Nikesh,

    Unfortunately we do not support custom metal-layer ROMs for the PCM27xx family any longer.  You can still implement this using an external EEPROM with the PCM2704/6, or you can use an SPI master to set the PID at startup with the PCM2705/7.

    Thanks for the reply.

    As you mentioned that we can connect external EEPROM for custom VID and PID but can you provide us the PID  so that we can program it into the EEPROM if the quantity is in large number?

    or is there any other option so that we can solve this issue like keeping the TI's VID and PID but only change in the Product String.

    Could you please guide us on that?

    My understanding is that the PID can be left alone or modified.  The Product Description can also be modified to whatever you want.  I do not think you are required to get your own PID and that you can leave it as the default value.
