TPA3111D1: TPA3111D1 input clarification.

Part Number: TPA3111D1

Hi,

I am planning to use the TPA3111D1 amplifier in my design. I was going through the datasheet and find the below description.

What it means biased at 3V?

I will connect the audio codec Lineout to this amplifier input pin. The Lineout output typical rms voltage is 1 Vrms. Will this be fine to connect like this?

Thanks,

  • Hi Arunkumar,

For some reason that screenshot you attached isn't viewable for me. But based on context I'm assuming you are asking why the inputs are biased at 3V?

The reason for this is to avoid saturating the inputs of the amplifier. We have to bias our inputs since we don't have a negative voltage rail. It's a similar concept as a single supply operational amplifier. You have to have a bias point to avoid clipping the signal.

Based on your description of your system, I don't see any potential risks with connecting the audio codec lineout to the amplifier's input as long as you still have the DC blocking capacitor between them.

    Best Regards,
