TPA3111D1: Output power difference with TPA3112

Hi TI team,

We are planning to use the TPA3111D1 in our audio application. The expected needed output power is 10W, and the IC could be limited in output power if a little more power is needed.

I looked the TPA3112D1 which has an 25W output power capability, However I cannot figure out what is the difference between the 2 ICs:

- They have the same package and the same thermal performances

- They have the same Rdson, switching frequency and efficiency curves

- The Plimit on the TPA3111D1 does not limit the maximum output power to 10W if tied to GVDD

What makes the TPA3112D able to work up to 25W that is not in the TPA3111D1? Can I use the TPA3111D1 up to 25W?

    Hi,

    If you look at the figure 15 on datasheet, If PLIMIT pin is connected to GVDD, the output power limitation is 10W.

    However, the equation in the following page remains the same with TPA3112. I believe the difference comes from something like the PLIMIT scaling...
