PCM2912A: Audio USB PCM2912A

Part Number: PCM2912A

Hello,

I'm using the PCM2912A with the amplifier TPA6111A2DR.

On the VDD pin I'have 3.1V and not 3.3V. Also the PCM2912A it is a little bit hot and the current consomption it is a lit bit more than the EVK.

I think the problem it is perhaps the use of the TPA611A2DR.

I put the  in attach file the schematic of  my board.

best regards

  • Hi David,

Can you verify what the increase in current consumption is? Is it outside of the maximum spec provided or just higher than what you see on the evaluation board? The voltage regulators are specified to a minimum of 3V with typical around 3.3V, so it is not necessarily an issue that this is close to 3.1V.

From a power standpoint, the DAC output power with a 32 Ohm load is not very high (13mW) and you have a much higher impedance load than that. The device itself however will dissipate 425mW of power typically when the DAC and ADC are running. With a junction to ambient thermal resistance of 69.6degC/W, you could expect a temperature increase of ~30degC above ambient, so the device will be noticeably hotter. However, as long as the temperature isn't approaching >85degC this is not an issue.

Let me know if you have any other issues or concerns with the part!

    Best,

    Zak

  • Hello Zak,

I found the mistake it was a ground problem on the DGND.

    it is working now correctly
