Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2903
Hi team,
I was looking at the reference design for the PCM2903 Audio Codec, and the VIN coupling caps are electrolytic caps. Are these required, or can they be ceramic caps?
Thanks,
AH

Hello,
Yes, the input capacitors can be ceramic. When the EVM was released it was harder to get decent dielectric ceramic capacitors, but that has changed since. You should try to use a larger value capacitor with a voltage rating at least double the rated working voltage to help minimize low frequency distortion. Film caps will be the highest performance but are likely not required with the PCM2903.
