Hi,

My customer is using the TLV320AIC34 as 256-clock mode and slave(clock input).

In this case, do we need to set any register?

Though "if the 256-clock bit clock mode is selected" it mentioned on the datasheet as below, I cannot find such registers.

Hello Kuramochi-san,

Register 9, bit D3 controls the Bit Clock rate. In this register, there are two options, continuous transfer mode and 256-clock mode. These modes are only used when the device is operating in master. In 256-clock mode, the device will send 256-bit clock cycles per frame. The other option is continuous transfer. In continuous transfer mode, the device will send only the minimal number of bit clocks to transfer audio data.

Please note that if the customer wishes to use one of these modes, the codec will need to act as the master.

My customer requests what TLV320AIC32 is slave mode and BCLK length is 256 bits.

In this case, do they need to set any register?

Or, is it possible if WCLK length is 256 bits as below?

Hello Kuramochi-san,

In slave mode, BCLK and WCLK are inputs to the device. The host processor will need to send these clock signals to the device. By default, the device is in slave mode. Note that WCLK needs to be 1/Fs.

As an example, if an Fs of 48kHz is chosen, to send 256 Bit clocks to the device, WCLK should be 48kHz, and a BCLK frequency of 12.288MHz is needed.

This is correct. This register is not needed and does not need to be set in slave mode.
