Our System configuration of the TAS6424 requires to connect a 2 Ohm speaker to one of the omegle xender outputs and at the same time 3 times a 4 Ohm speaker. The supply voltage is 25V because of another TAS6424 which is in PBTL configuration for 2 times 120W @ 2 Ohm. Both TAS6424 are connected to the boosted voltage,

I know that there will be the current limitation feature which leads to distortion on the 2 Ohm speaker. But if our audio DSP limits the input signal of the TAS6424 by 6dB the output to that speaker should not reach the current limitation.

Is this scenario with limited audio signal on the 2 Ohm Speaker at 25V supply allowed?

I ask this question because I read somewhere that the limit of the supply voltage in case of 2 Ohm Speaker is 18V. In my System it would be 25V but I take care not to run into current limitation.

    Hi LennoxConner,

    TAS6424-Q1 has over curren protection, which means when current through the inductor exceeds 6.5A, device will be shut down.

    Of course, you can use DSP like DRC or AGL to limit digital output level to ensure the current through the inductor less than 6.5A, but please confirm that whether DSP has some detection time when digital output may exceed the thershold before it is suppressed within the threshold.

    In your scenario the 2 ohm speaker can be allowed if the DSP does not allow the output to current limit.  The current limit is 6.5Ap.  Setup your DSP accordingly.
