TAS2505: DAC Output Accuracy

Hello,

Do we have accuracy numbers for the output DAC on this device (+/-0.1dB, 0.05dB, etc)? And if I set the DAC to 0dB and my waveform is full scale, what is the accuracy of the output?

Hi, Michael,

The TLV320DAC3203 has an error margin depending of the routing mode inside the device.

In case you are using analog inputs, there's a typ margin error of +/- 0.4dB.

In case of a digital input (I2S to Headphone output), there's lower typ error of +/-0.1dB.

Hi, Michael,

I apologize for the confusion.

In case of the TAS2505, the typical errors would be:

+/- 0.7dB for a digital to Class-D path.

+/- 0.3dB for a digital to headphone path.

+/- 0.8dB for an analog to Class-D/headphone path.

The mute attenuation is 103.7dB with an error margin of +/-1.2dB.

Sorry one more follow up, does the output accuracy and mute attenuation add? Is there a total of +/-2dB from the DAC to the output?

Hi, Michael,

Yes, the worst case would be +/- 2dB. This would be the maximum error that could be from the DAC to the output when the device is muted.
