TAS5756M: How to tune Hybrid flow of TAS5756M on custom board

Part Number: TAS5756M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , TAS5805M, TAS5766M

Hi.
We're designing custom PCB that TAS5756M is used.
TAS5756M will be controlled via I2C by MCU that mounted on this PCB.

We wanna tune the Hybrid Flow of it.
We know that to tune the Hybrid Flow the Pure Path Console is needed.
But we cannot tune with only this tool and our custom board,
to do tuning, the Pure Path Motherboard(PPCMB) is needed.

Until here, our understanding is correct?

Next, according to some threads in the past,
(e.g. https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio/f/6/t/701840?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=TAS5756M%2525252525252520custom%2525252525252520board )
it seems like it's not recommended to connect PPCMB to custom TAS5756M board.

Is the recommended procedure like below to tune the setting of Hybrid Flow of our custom board?

1)Use PPCMB + TAS5756M evaluation PCB(TAS5756MDCAEVM) to tune.
2)Generate setting from PPCMB by using dump function of Pure Path Console in specified format(.cfg).
3)Include generated data to source code for the MCU on our custom PCB and set it to TAS5756M via I2C.

Thank you.

  • Hello Yazawa-san,

The process you described is what we recommend for this device.

If you use some of the newer devices in our portfolio like the TAS5805M/TAS5805M or even a few older devices like the TAS5766M that use our latest Purepath Console 3 software, PPC3 supports in-system tuning under our End System integration tool where you can connect the EVM/Purepath motherboard I2C lines to your system board and modify the Tuning and process flow directly on your system board.

    Best Regards,

  • Hola, Sr.Luis

    Thank you for your reply.

    We'll try the recommended procedure.

Actually, we already used part of function of TAS5756M on our other custom board, But tuning the Hybridflow is our first experience.
So we'll need to buy the PPCMB.
(We already requested the Pure Path Console and waiting the approving.)

Does it mean the device that correspond the PPC3 can be tuned directly via PPCMB?
    We didn't know that...

We already decided to use TAS5756M for our new custom board and we're proceeding to design.

So if we'll get opportunity to use other device that correspond the PPC3 in the future, we wanna try it.

    Thank you.
