TLV320ADC6140: Multiple I2S slave devices

Part Number: TLV320ADC6140

Hello Team,

I have to interface 8 analog audio inputs from  8 individual camera to the NXP iMX8M processor, which has only two I2S interface. Could you please suggest me the way to choose the appropriate CODEC and the configuration to interfaces 8 audio inputs into two I2S ports of processor.

Herby i'm attaching the block diagram of my requirement.

thanks

Manoj.

  • Hi Manoj,

I think I understand your requirement but it doesn't look like your diagram came through if you want to try re-posting. The TLV320ADCx140 family should work well here and you can choose between the ADC3140, ADC5140, or ADC6140 depending on the level of performance you need. All of these devices support up to 4 channels of analog audio data so you would want to use 2 of them in your system. I believe the iMX8M family supports TDM on the I2S ports, which should allow you to stream all 8 channels of data on a single data line and only requires a single port. If your processor doesn't support TDM but has multiple DIN lines then that could also work.

    Best,

    Zak
