noise reduction problem in AIC3254

 Hi all,

I am  using evm5505(it has 3254 audio codec) for noise reduction property of miniDSP. But, Im unable to hear a noise reduced signal. I changed the properties on pure path studio (threshold, attenuation etc.)  but there is no change on output signal. What should I do ?

  • Hello,

Our one mic noise reduction works best for stationary noise. For testing purposes, a low-level white noise test can help to determine if nvar is working properly. Take a look at our multi-band NR at "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments Inc\PurePath Studio Portable Audio\ApplicationNotes".

Most of our customers use our TLV320AIC3254EVM-U to fine tune the algorithm. This is very helpful to easily change parameters on-the-fly, without the need to re-compile the c5505 code every time a parameter needs to be changed. Check with your local TI sales team if they have one EVM available; otherwise you could order one here: http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/tlv320aic3254evm-u.html.

  •  Hi J,

Thanks for replying. I have one question to ask. Has sampling rate any effect on the operation? The codec on my evm operates at 48khz samp. freq and nrvar note says    "The noise reduction is targeted for speech applications operating at sample rates between 4kHz and 8kHz." on clicking its help menu. Cant it operate at higher than 8khz, at present?

     Best regards...
