PCM2707C: I2S input line on FUNC3 - where is it going to?

Part Number: PCM2707C

The PCM2707C has a I2S Data Input line on FUNC3. Where is the signal going to?

I hoped I can use the PCM2707C as a bi-directional bridge between USB and I2S as it has all I2S lines needed for that (in, out, CLK, LRCLK).

If I connect it via USB to my PC I can see only an audio output interface. What is the I2S input line then needed for?

Kind regards,
Bernhard

PS: If the PCM2707C cannot be used as a bi-directional bridge, I would appreciate if you could recommend one. (The SiLabs CP2615 cannot be used due to the too fast SCLK)

  • Hi Bernhard,

The I2S DIN function is not for the USB bridge, but rather a specialized mode where an external I2S source can drive the PCM2707C's internal DAC.  I do not know of a TI product that can act as a bidirectional I2S-USB bridge.  We have many devices that can take a microphone input (PCM2912).

You could take a look at some of the CMedia devices.  They are pretty direct.

We use an XMOS controller from our EVMs, but they are a significant investment from a firmware standpoint.

    Thanks,

    Paul
