TLV320AIC3120: Power supply sequence

Part Number: TLV320AIC3120

Team,

Below is power supply sequence. Could you let me know whether is there any risk power up the IOVDD and AVDD and HPVDD in the same time. I mean

1. Power up SPKVDD

2. Power up IOVDD and AVDD and HPVDD

3. Power up DVDD shortly after IOVDD

Roy

  • Hello Roy,

The device is fairly tolerant of power supply sequencing but there may be rare cases of unexpected behavior if the recommended sequence isn't followed. We recommend using the following sequence:

    1. Speaker Supply powered first (SPKVDD)

    2. Digital Supplies (IOVDD, DVDD)

    2. Analog supplies (AVDD, HPVDD)

The digital supplies should be brought up once SPKVDD supply is stabilized then once digital supplies are stable, analog supplies should be powered on. This sequence will provide the most robust operation. If DVDD is powered up after AVDD, HPVDD, there may be some leakage current until DVDD is fully powered on.

    Regards,

    Aaron

  • Hi Aaron,

Is it possible that cause IC damage if DVDD is powered up after AVDD?

    Roy

  • Hello Roy,

I do not believe that damage will occur if DVDD is powered up after AVDD especially if the time between DVDD is powered up after AVDD is small. Please not that just because there may not be damage, there is still a small possibility that the device could exhibit odd behavior. Following the recommended sequence will minimize this possibility.

    Regards,

    Aaron
