PCM5102A: Pop noise of PCM5102A...

Dear Sirs,

My customer feedback there is pop noise that caused by PCM5102A while playing the music.

As the test configuration, customer host playback the song and provide I2S signal output to PCM5102A but there is pop noise from PCM5102A output.

Test with same I2S signal but send to SPDIF IC, the SPDIF IC output will no pop noise!!

Attached file are the backend recorded wave file with noise, test waveform, and schematics.

Please help to advise how to fix it!

    Hi,

    Are you observing this when doing pause and play or after power up?

    This is primarily due to the fact that device doing auto mute to ground when there is zero data. Unfortunately we cannot disable this functionality in this device.

    One way to solve this problem will be giving continuous non zero data to the device by adding small offset to the tune of 1LSB. This 1LSB data offset will not be audible.

     Let me know the results after adding data offset.

    Also please make sure when you  are doing  pause and play device should still receive BLCK, LRCLK and DATA with offset.

    or You can move to another device which has auto mute functionality disable feature like PCM5122.
