TAS2563: Can We Install Inductor in TS2563 Boost Bypass Mode?

Hi Sirs,

As title, based on the FAQ at

Can we install the inductor (marked below) in boost bypass mode (page 0x00, register 0x33 = 0xc4)?
Will it cause silicon damage or performance downgrade if we don's remove the inductor from the hardware?

Hi Wayne,

What is the reason to keep this inductor? will this application be switching between internal and external boost?

From 11.2.2 TAS2563 Datasheet

"Its is very important that during external boost mode, VBAT and SW should be hard shorted on board."

Hi Wayne,

If the internal boost is disabled with register 0x33 then keeping the inductor in place should be OK.

One more question, can we disable the boost converter in ROM mode in TAS2563 PPC3 GUI?

Hi Wayne,

Sorry for the late reply. PPC3 GUI currently does not support fully disabling the boost. It is best to write directly to register 0x33.
